The name Soquel is said to have first appeared in 1833 as the name of the Mexican land grant that contained the land on which the town now sits. Soquel is home to the 95-acre Anna Jean Cummings Park, offering vast open space with sports fields, playgrounds and picnic areas. Other parks in Soquel include Richard Vessey, Soquel Lions and Willowbrook Park. Wineries, antique shops and a variety of restaurants can be found in this quaint city. Soquel was the location of the first “Acid Test” party in 1965.
