The small city of Scotts Valley, CA, covers about 4.6 square miles of land in Santa Cruz County, home to a population nearing 12,000 residents. Scotts Valley is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains, about 30 miles south of San Jose and six miles north of the city of Santa Cruz.

Once a stop along the California Trail of the Old West, Scotts Valley is named for Hiram Daniel Scott, who purchased land in the area in 1850. The historic Scott House was built in 1853, now on the National Register of Historic Places. For more than 20 years Scotts Valley was home to Santa’s Village, a Christmas-themed amusement park that opened in 1957. Film director Alfred Hitchcock lived for decades in a mountaintop estate in Scotts Valley. The present-day city was incorporated in 1966.
